My Favorite Images 2014

The year 2014 was an incredible year for me as a photographer.  I have grown and learned a lot in photography from improving my photography skills, critiquing a picture and have improving my photoshop skills.  Although I must confess that my photoshop skills are still very basic, but enough for my to enhance my photographs.

These are my favorite Images for 2014:

All that we see or seem Is but a dream within a dream.......Edgar Allan Poe

This picture was taken around Lake Baldwin in Orlando Florida.  I took this picture during Winter....a cold 60 degree Florida during the Sunset.  I always envy photographs with snow and one day I hope to take some Winter photographs with snow however I have to make use of what I have. After all I live in tropical Florida.

To him, who still would gaze upon the glory of the summer sun, there comes, when that sun will from him part, a sullen hopelessness of heart........Edgar Allan Poe

“The forest has shrunk
And fear has expanded,
The forests have dwindled,
There are less animals now,
less courage and less lightning,
less beauty
and the moon lies bare,
deflowered by force and
then abandoned.”
― Visar Zhiti

This two photographs were taken at Woodland Lakes Preserve in Orlando Florida.  The preserve currently is completely blocked by homes and only the homeowners have access to the preserve.  I like this pictures because they remind me of a painting.

Who shall say where the one ends, and where the other begins?......Edgar Allan Poe

This photograph was taken during sunset however the sunset was partially blocked by a storm that was coming.  I took this picture at the banks for of Lake Virginia in Winter Park Florida.  Thankfully, I was able to leave before it started storming.  I like the colors and patterns of the clouds on this photograph.

A stair not worn hollow by footsteps is, regarded from its own point of view only a boring something made of wood......Franz Kafka

This picture was taken at the Southeast Light at Block Island.  I took this picture during the 4th of July weekend when I went away for a little holiday.  I like this picture a lot because I have always like Lighthouses and rustic places.  I also love black and white photographs. Everything about it and the fierce old coast around it, had the ring and taste and feel of utter rightness to me. Its peace and loneliness crept into my veins and ran there, its wildness called out to the deep buried wildness in my heart.......Anne Rivers Siddons

This picture was taken at Block Island as well.  I like the colors on this one a lot, from the very white sailboat in the distance to the round circle in the water in front of the black stone pier.  It was such a beautiful day and there was not a cloud in the sky.

This feather is a very special one.  It was donated by my favorite and only pet Sunny the sun conure.  I say donated because it just fell off his tail while he was molting.  I did not pluck the feather. :-)

This was my first attempt to capture lightning at nighttime without a tripod.
Palm Beach, South Florida

I took this picture from an open window sill at my hotel room in Palm Beach.  It was storming in the distance and I have always wanted to take pictures of lightning.  I did not have a tripod so I had to hand hold the camera with the window sill helping me out for support to take this shot.  I had to take about 300 exposures and found this one.  This was my first lightning photograph.

And the ocean wraps the earth, a reminder. The mysteries come forward in waves.”
― Susan Casey, The Wave: In Pursuit of the Rogues, Freaks, and Giants of the Ocean

I took this photograph at Lake Worth Florida, I like this picture a lot because of the colors, textures and most of all I have always wanted to take pictures of waves but I wanted to make it my own.  I always see pictures of huge curled waves but I wanted one that was more abstract and poetic.

I am looking forward to 2015 to bring more adventures...... Hopefully I could then be able to capture snow and travel to more places.
